The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Takes a High-Performance Classic and Makes it “Better”

April 19th, 2018 by

There might not be a more iconic American auto brand than Jeep. A product of American ingenuity, it’s been a symbol of rugged versatility for since the 1940s. Today, in a world dominated by same-ish looking vehicles that provide same-ish driving experiences, all it takes is one glance to know that the vehicle that just drove past you is a Jeep.

There’s nowhere that’s truer than the Jeep Wrangler. Drawing on many of the same design elements that made the original Jeep a go-anywhere powerhouse, the Wrangler is a distinct-looking and distinctly capable SUV. When people want a vehicle that can genuinely handle anything, they drive a Wrangler.

Jeep knows this, and with the 2018 model the company worked hard to provide a driving experience that eclipses everything that came before it. “The all-new Wrangler is instantly recognizable as a Jeep, staying true to the original, yet it is better in every way,” said Jeep-brand head Mike Manley. “[It delivers] even more rugged capability, more ride comfort, more fuel efficiency courtesy of several advanced powertrain options, more interior comfort, more safety and more technology.”

Taking past criticisms of the Wrangler to heart, its designers revamped the 2018 model with a major redesign. Providing a wider chassis with more interior space and a more modern suite of technology features, it’s impressed many drivers with its new offerings. At the same time, however, it doesn’t compromise its sterling reputation for performance. As capable as ever, it offers high ground clearance, a sturdy design, and two powerful powertrains. These include the classic 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and an all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4.
