Explore the Florida Everglades this Thanksgiving Weekend

November 9th, 2016 by

In Florida, you can eat apple pie, don a fall beanie and sip on a pumpkin spice latte, but without the different colored leaves and cold weather, it may not feel much like fall. That’s why you need to get the family together, pile into a Ram truck, and explore the Sunshine state. Thanksgiving weekend is the perfect excuse to get everyone together and embrace the season.

Discover Alligators and Prehistoric-looking Swamps

Getting there to the swamp is easy. Once you’re there, you’ll feel like you’re in a different world. Take I-95 south and head toward Miami. Then follow the signs to Everglades National Park. Some call the main thoroughfare “38 miles of nothing,” but it is far from that. If you want to see a variety of wildlife and terrain, this is where you want to be. Start in pinelands and meander through sawgrass marshes, cypress domes, sloughs and mangrove forests. If you’re up for some extra adventure, set up camp on Florida Bay. For an added bonus, the boardwalk around Mahogany Hammock winds through a hardwood hammock forest with the biggest existing mahogany tree in the country.
