Chrysler Unveils Portal Concept at CES
At the CES in Las Vegas earlier this year, Chrysler debuted their all-electric Portal minivan concept. Full of with cutting-edge features and semi-autonomous driving tech, the vehicle offers insight into Chrysler’s vision for the future of mobility.
The vehicle’s front wheels are powered by an electric motor, and the 100-kWh battery pack – which is stored under the cabin floor — delivers about 250 miles of driving range. With 350-kW DC fast-charging capability, the battery can restore up to 150 miles of range in under 20 minutes.
Chrysler says the Portal can deliver SAE Level 3 autonomous driving, taking over driving duties under specific highway conditions. Utilizing a suite of sonar, lidar, radar and cameras and vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology, the Portal is on the forefront of semi-autonomous driving.
The Portal can recognize individual users and tailor the driving environment to their wishes thanks to facial and voice recognition software, and the internal wireless network allows passengers to share music, pictures and videos with each other as they charge their phone or tablet on one of the 10 available docking stations.
