New 2017 Jeep Cherokee at Beck Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for Gainesville, FL
Are you ready to get out there and drive with authority through the main roads, off-grid roads, and steep-mountain roads of your life? This is where the five-passenger 2017 Jeep Cherokee comes in and smashes down the competitors. And it arrives with a lot of new for 2017 features, like standard high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps (except the Sport model), and two new Overland Packages that are going to be available late-season. There is a new, high-gloss and wood-trim Zebrano steering wheel, only on the Overland model (in its 1st full year), plus it has its own floor mats, and a standard Alpine audio system, which is good news for music-blasting enthusiasts! For 2017, the beloved Trailhawk model has, as standard, heated Nappa-leather front seats, a power eight-way driver seat, a remote start system, a universal garage door opener, a premium heated steering wheel, a power liftgate, Keyless Enter 'n Go, and a lot more. With all these new features the Cherokee is doing very well for itself, but let's look a little closer see even more great value built right in.
Under the Cherokee's Hood
Optional on almost all models is a 3.2-liter V6 that achieves 271-hp and spins 239 lb-ft of torque. Otherwise, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee has as standard a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. It's going to be either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive (either engine), except for Trailhawk models which is obviously 4WD-only. A capable nine-speed automatic transmission is standard and the available towing package gets V6 models a convincing 4,500-pound towing capacity. There are three 4WD systems to choose from: the straightforward and efficient Active Drive I system, the Jeep Active Drive Lock, or the hyper-effective Active Drive II system, for really getting across those gnarly off-road peaks and valleys. Let's talk fuel economy for a second though. A Cherokee equipped with the 2.4-liter engine and front-wheel drive is EPA-rated at 25 mpg combined (21 city/30 highway). The V6 and front-wheel drive comes in very close to that at 24 mpg combined (21 city/29 highway).
Design of Jeep Cherokee
The 2017 Jeep Cherokee is a crossover SUV with five main trim levels, all of which are offered in either 4x2 and 4x4, except for the 4x4-only Trailhawk. Those models are the Sport, Latitude, Limited, Overland, and the Trailhawk. The popular Trailhawk comes with what you would expect it to for off-roading. It has a locking rear differential, hill ascent and descent control, gets wider 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, increased ground clearance, skid plates, tow hooks, a larger driver information display with color graphics, satellite radio and Jeep's 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen interface. The Sport includes 17-inch steel wheels, remote keyless entry, sliding and reclining rear seats with 60/40-split folding seatbacks, Bluetooth, an auxiliary audio input, an SD card reader and much more. The Overland includes a power liftgate, a power-adjustable passenger seat (with four-way power lumbar) and an acoustic windshield and front windows, and a nine-speaker audio system with a subwoofer. The Limited model grows another inch with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and ignition, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Latitude also has alloy wheels, and gains roof rails, fog-lights, automatic xenon headlights, a rearview camera, LED interior lighting, and a 115-volt outlet. There are three Special Edition models as well of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee: the 75th Anniversary Edition (made through Dec. 2016), the Altitude, and the High Altitude model.
